Madshus racer Ivan Cherezov (RUS) polished off the 10K sprint in Pokljuka, Slovenia, entirely without penalties. He clocked in at 28:10,0, and won with a cush 11-second margin to Dominik Landertinger (AUT), who earned one penalty lap and finished in 28:21,1. Thomas Frei (SUI) also missed one and was third, in 28:52,4.
In the women’s 7.5K sprint, Madshus racer Svetlana Sleptsova (RUS) nailed all her targets and won in 24:57 – leaving almost a minute to spare to second-place finisher Anna Bogaliy-Titovets (RUS). Magdalena Neuner (GER) was third (25:59,4).
